How to choose a nitrogen making machine?

Step 1: Determine gas consumption (core)
Calculate the total maximum simultaneous gas consumption of all gas-using equipment.
Add redundancy margin:
  • Intermittent gas usage and small enterprises: +10%~15%
  • 24-hour continuous production, assembly lines and non-stop working conditions: +20%~30%
  • Severe gas consumption fluctuation and high instantaneous gas consumption peak: Increase the margin or install a nitrogen storage tank  
Step 2: Select nitrogen purity by industry 
Industry of Application | Required Purity
Food packaging, beverages, anticorrosion, fire protection, purging | 95%~99.0%
Chemical replacement, warehouse moisture-proofing, pipeline purging, hardware rust prevention | 99.0%~99.9%
Heat treatment, powder metallurgy, die casting, injection molding, rubber, cables | 99.9%
Laser cutting, welding protection, pharmaceuticals, lithium batteries, glass | 99.99%
Electronic semiconductors, laboratories, special materials, precision welding | 99.999%
Principle: Sufficient is enough. With each upgrade in purity grade, equipment costs and power consumption rise significantly.
Step 3: Determine Working Pressure
Conventional Low-Pressure Nitrogen Supply
Standard outlet pressure of nitrogen generator: 0.6~0.8 MPa
Application: Packaging, purging, dust removal, conveying and general protection
Medium and High-Pressure Nitrogen Supply
Additional nitrogen booster required
1.0~1.6MPa: Chemical industry and container pressure testing
2.0~3.0MPa: Rubber vulcanization and high-pressure sealing
Above 3.0MPa: Military industry and special tests
Step 4: Select the nitrogen generation principle (three major types)
  1. PSA Pressure Swing Adsorption Nitrogen Generation (the most commonly used and preferred option in industry)
    Flow rate: Full coverage from 3 to 3000Nm³/h  Purity: 95% ~ 99.999%   
    Advantages: Low investment, ready for immediate use after startup, simple operation and maintenance, stable 24-hour operation Application: General scenarios for 90% of factories
  2. Membrane Separation Nitrogen Generation
    Low upper limit of purity: maximum 99.5%Advantages: Compact size, no vulnerable partsApplication: Low-demand scenarios, small gas volume, outdoor use and simple purging
  3. Cryogenic Air Separation Nitrogen Generation
    Ultra-large flow rate and ultra-high purity
    Application: Large chemical plants, coal chemical industry and scenarios with gas consumption of tens of thousands of cubic meters; not recommended for small and micro enterprises
